Active Property

When a vacancy becomes available Active will contact applicants to explain the tenant selection process

Tenancy allocation is based on a number of factors including:

• The Size of property required – ( number of bedrooms)
• Personal circumstances ( the area you wish to live)
• If a modified property is required for wheelchair access

Vacant Properties

When a property is vacant Active staff will:

• Contact you by phone to see if the property we have vacant meets your needs or whether your circumstances have changed.
• Inform you if you are the successful applicant.
• Unsuccessful applicants will also be contacted by Active.

Tenanted property available for co-tenancy.

(This is where one person lives in a two bedroom property and is looking for someone to share with)

• The current tenant will be involved in selecting the person who will move into the property with them ( the applicant )
• If the current tenant does not want to be involved, Active will select applicants based on the current tenants requirements. (For example male or female, no pets, no smokers, etc.).
• Active will arrange a meeting with the current tenant and applicant. This is gives both people a chance to find things in common, discuss house rules and the possibility of sharing a property.
• Active will contact the applicant if they are successful or unsuccessful regarding the co-tenancy.

Co – Tenant Responsibilities

Active's goal is to support good relationships in co-tenancies and promote the rights of tenants to quiet enjoyment of the property

Active encourages co-tenants to consider:

• Allocation of space.
• Information regarding dispute resolution.
• The offer of putting a shared service fee agreement in place for all utilities (gas, electricity, phone and gardening).

Community Residential Units

Active does not have tenant selection rights to any Community Residential Unit properties. The Department of Human Services and the Support Services manage this selection process.
